Meet Kornel Turcan.

He brings precision, charisma, and compelling stage presence to the cast of “Rouge.”  His work ethic, versatility, and commitment to the craft make him a standout in the production, and his journey as a performer continues to inspire all who see him perform.

Kornel Turcan Began Dancing At A Young Age

Kornel, 33, has called Las Vegas home for about four years, and has been in “Rouge” for almost three years.

“The first time I came here was back in 2017, when I visited as a tourist to see my sister,” he told The 702. “I instantly fell in love with the energy of the city, and that experience eventually inspired me to make the move.”

His dance journey began at the young age of just 6 with Latin and Ballroom dance training. He said he doesn’t remember how he felt in the early days about dance because it was “my parents’ decision at that age,” but by the time he turned 12, he began to “understand and connect with it more.”

“I was competing both locally and internationally,” he shared. “And the thrill of making it to the finals and winning is what really sparked my true love for dance.”

Realizing This Was Something He Wanted To Pursue Professionally

Kornel said that he’s been training in Ballroom and Latin dancing nearly his entire life. At the age of 18, he began struggling to find a dance partner.

“Around that time, I was introduced to a dancers’ community that was putting together a new TV show – something similar to ‘American Idol’ – and they needed dancers for the full production,” he told The 702 exclusively. “I was already comfortable performing in front of audiences and cameras, but when I got my first paycheck, something clicked. I realized I could actually make a living doing what I loved, and that’s when I decided to pursue it professionally.”

For Kornel, there are many memories from his early days of dancing that stick out, but he strongly remembers being a child and performing for the whole family. He said they were so proud and those are the memories that really stick with him.

‘Rouge’ Is Kornel Turcan’s First Vegas Show

Kornel told The 702 that “Rouge” is his first show in Las Vegas, but spent years performing on cruise ships traveling the world.

When asked what the best part about being in “Rouge” is, Kornel said it’s the cast.

“We have such a talented group of people in the cast, supportive, and that energy makes every performance exciting,” he shared. “The audience, the reactions, the energy, the way people let loose and enjoy themselves, it makes every night special.”

When Kornel joined the cast of “Rouge,” he only had three days to learn the entire show. His opening day, he had to perform two shows back-to-back.

“I was both excited and nervous at the same time. I was super excited to be back on stage after a long break, but also a little nervous. It was my first time opening ‘Rouge’ after all,” he said. “Afterwards, I felt amazing and really proud of how well everything went. And the cast was incredibly supportive, which made the whole experience even better.”

Some Insight Into Being A Dancer In A Vegas Show

Kornel shared a little bit of insight on what it’s like to be a professional dancer in Sin City. He said many people probably don’t realize that dancers in Vegas typically work the hours that many people are out having fun. He also shared that his weekend can be a Tuesday and his day typically starts at lunchtime.

“You can walk into work from 110-degree heat and then freeze inside the theater because it’s kept so cold for the tech equipment,” he said, referring to something many might not realize. “Most people don’t realize how fast our costume changes are. Sometimes we have less than 30 seconds backstage to switch from one look to another.”

Kornel also shared a little about what he feels is the hardest part about being a professional dancer – the demand on your body and mind.

“People see the glamour on stage, but they don’t always realize the hours of rehearsals, the physical strain, and the discipline it takes to perform at a high level every single night,” he shared. “You have to take care of injuries, stay in top shape, keep your energy up, and still deliver a flawless performance.”

What He Enjoys When He’s Not On The Stage

When he’s not performing, Kornel said he enjoys staying active and tries to get to the gym multiple times a week. He also prioritizes being a “family guy” and spending as much time with his family as he possibly can.

“I’m also a big foodie, so I love cooking, grilling, smoking different dishes and surprise my wife with is,” he said. “One of my favorite things about Vegas is that’s it’s a 24/7 city – there’s always something going on, and the weather is sunny most of the year. It really feels like a resort in the desert. I also enjoy driving out of the city for some shooting in the desert or going off-roading. It’s the perfect balance to the stage life.”
