Since 1958, Golden Steer Steakhouse has been a Las Vegas icon, welcoming visitors from all over the world for a dining experience like no other. It’s reputation as the city’s longest running steakhouse and nostalgic history within its walls has guests booking reservations months in advance, and even sometimes planning their whole Sin City visit around that reservation.

If only the booths could talk! But since they can’t, each booth honors a legend who once dined there, including Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Joe DiMaggio, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and others.

The restaurant was featured in Martin Scorsese’s “Casino,” which is a nod to its role as a favorite spot for celebrities and the city’s underworld figures.

Tuxedoed servers, an undeniable Old Vegas vibe, tableside Caesar salads and flaming desserts, perfectly cooked steaks, seafood, and so much more captures the spirit of timeless fine dining.

The 702 Visited The Golden Steer For The First Time

Earlier this year, I decided to plan a special dinner to celebrate the end of my son’s first year at college, and the Golden Steer became the plan.

In February, I tried to get a reservation for June, but the first available table (that wasn’t after 9 p.m.) happened to be August 25. So I made a reservation for two for that day. I didn’t realize at the time that August 25 was the first day of his sophomore year of college at UNLV, so we ended up having two occasions to celebrate.

I don’t eat red meat (don’t come for me) but my son is a steak connoisseur so I knew this was the place to go. I’ve  heard so many stories about how wonderful the Golden Steer experience is, so we were both excited for our night out.

What Did We Order?

So we decided to start off with a classic appetizer – a jumbo shrimp cocktail. That turned out to be an excellent choice. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and the cocktail sauce had a great kick to it.

My son, of course, ordered steak, a 16 oz. New York cut, with a side of whipped potatoes. I got the chicken parmesan and a twice baked potato. Not only was everything delicious, but the food came out fairly quickly and the servers were top tier. If you needed something, you didn’t have to wait more than a minute or two before someone came over to see what they could do for you.

While we didn’t order the tableside Caesar salad, a few tables around us did so we got to watch the impressive show in action.

We HAD To Save Room For Dessert

One thing we knew before even stepping foot inside of Golden Steer is the tableside flambe Bananas Foster was a must! And that was the best decision ever.

They create this masterpiece dessert right next to your table so you get a mini-show and a tasty sweet treat. It was a sight to see and the perfect end to the evening.
