The iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign, located on the south end of the Strip, has been reimagined by contemporary artist Daniel Arsham and unveiled on Saturday morning at the opening of ComplexCon.
Arsham, the Global Artistic Director for ComplexCon, created the new permanent sculpture that will greet guests at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
A New Permanent Art Installation From Daniel Arsham Was Unveiled Saturday Morning At ComplexCon Las Vegas
Visit Las Vegas and ComplexCon unveiled a new permanent art installation inspired by the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign on Saturday morning.
The installation, created by ComplexCon’s Global Artistic Director Daniel Arsham, fuses Arsham’s signature “relic” style with Sin City’s spirit of possibility and transformation.
The piece, conceived and commissioned by ComplexCon, serves as a creative tribute to the well known sign and the city, and will be the centerpiece of ComplexCon Las Vegas.
“It’s great to be able to create a sculpture based on something so iconic as the ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign,” Arsham said, according to a press release sent to The 702.
Kate Wik, chief marketing officer of Las Vegas, added, “Partnering with Complex to bring Daniel Arsham’s vision to life celebrates Las Vegas’s dynamic connection to global culture and creativity. ComplexCon is where imagination meets innovation, and this collaboration allows us to engage new audiences and showcase Las Vegas as a destination for art, inspiration, and discovery.”

A video of Arsham talking about the installation was shared by Vegas and ComplexCon on Instagram.
“This is a sign, obviously everyone knows the Las Vegas sign, and I’ve created sculpture of it as if we uncovered it in 1,000 years,” he said. “This material, this kind of patinated bronze is something that we really associate with art history, and these crystals that are growing out of it in stainless steel.”

ComplexCon Las Vegas Is This Weekend
ComplexCon is taking over the Convention Center Saturday and Sunday and brining vendors, live entertainment, interactive activations, and more.
This year is the second year in Vegas for the popular festival that brings streetwear, music, food, and sneakers together for a two-day event like no other. Last year was a huge success, bringing more than 60,000 attendees out and over $20 million in sales.
Live performances include: Yeat & Friends, Paso Pluma, Young Thug, Ken Carson, 2Hollis, and others. There are also live panels and podcast tapings, a food festival, and special sneaker drops throughout the weekend.
