Wendy Bronson, manager of SMKD, told The 702 Vegas that the new eatery opened about two months ago and chose the area because there was a BBQ spot that was looking to leave so SMKD stepped in. It’s also close to home for the owners, making this the perfect location to bring their dream to life.

Alex Reznik, who says his title is “the guy who is responsible for everyone’s happiness,” (he’s also an owner), cooks the food. He’s multi-talented and all about making sure the customer leaves happy.

“We wanted to create a restaurant that’s designed for the family,” he said. “We’re a family restaurant that happens to do really great BBQ. Everything is cooked on that smoker out in front. We cook everything low and slow, how it’s supposed to be.”

From the moment you walk into the building, the smell of deliciousness takes over and gets you ready for a feast like no other.

When asked what some of the faves are so far, Wendy told The 702, “our brisket and our ribs.” She added that the pastrami on rye is a very popular choice, too.

Alex agreed with Wendy on what menu items are grabbing the most attention daily.

“Our ribs are just killer. We sell out of them every day,” Alex shared. “Traditionally the ribs aren’t ready until 1 p.m. It takes a while. We don’t cook them overnight. When they’re ready, they’re ready.”

On the weekends, diners can enjoy brunch, which is something that many BBQ spots don’t offer, making this your new spot for lunch or dinner!

Of course, we had to try out some of the delicious options at SMKD, and we weren’t disappointed one little bit. We tried some chicken, ribs, wings, fries, sweet potato hush puppies, potato salad, and mac-n-cheese.

The smoky flavor from the chicken is something that will absolutely bring you back for more. And the mac-n-cheese was top tier perfection. The ribs just melt in your mouth, and the sweet potato hush puppies are something you will crave with future meals or alone as a snack.

There’s no wrong choices here. Everything is made fresh, in fact, they don’t even have a freezer for the meat, that’s how fresh it is!
